Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant-Gyn Oncology to support physicians and nurses in a 40-hour work week. The role emphasizes efficient patient flow, data collection, room preparation, and assisting with procedures in a fast-paced gyn oncology setting.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, BLS CPR, and MA certification eligibility with potential certification within six months. Prior ambulatory care and EMR experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current certification in CMA/AMT/NCCT/NHA or eligibility to write one of the five eligible exams.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 0–2 years of experience in a relevant role.
• Preferred: completion of accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Preferred: 1–2 years ambulatory care experience.
• Preferred: experience with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Ensures efficient patient flow through the site and prepares patients for examination.
• Assists practitioners with procedures such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Maintains exam rooms, sterilizes equipment, and oversees inventory.
• Interacts with patients and care team to promote satisfaction and effective communication.
• Performs delegated procedures safely and efficiently according to specialty guidelines.
• Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
