Job summary

UHA University Health Associates in Morgantown, WV is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional to deliver high-quality, patient-centered Gyn/Onc care in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. The APP collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other staff to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within scope of practice.

The role includes rounds, perioperative support, care coordination, education of residents and students, and discharge planning to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
• APRNs must have RNFA certification, from an AORN approved certification program.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized care for Gyn/Onc patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization and in the ambulatory setting.
• Participates in Gyn/Onc patient care: Including daily rounds, consults, peri-procedural/peri-operative evaluations; which may include, but is not limited to, first assist in the operative suite.
• Participates in peri-operative management of patient which may include, but not limited to, 1st assisting in the operative suite.
• Completes integrated and comprehensive assessments.
• With collaboration of Gyn/Onc faculty or by following established clinical Guidelines and Protocols, orders additional tests or consults as deemed appropriate.
• Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
• Consults and communicates with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in the evaluation and management of patients.
• Performs succinct comprehensive clinical evaluations and documents findings in medical record.
• Facilitates patient discharge and or follow-up by directing/coordinating appropriate services and tests prior to discharge necessary for outpatient follow-up appointments in the clinic.
• Performs necessary procedures following established clinical guidelines and Protocols and scope of practice (SOP).
• Develops a comprehensive individualized plan of care for Gyn/Onc patients, including teaching, discharge planning and referral.
• Demonstrates expertise in caring for patients across the age continuum of their educational experience and certification.
• Participates in physician rounds, as applicable.
• Identifies unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention in the clinic and/or hospital setting.
• Evaluates Gyn/Onc patients and serves direction for the coordination of follow up procedures and tests in the ambulatory setting (as applicable).
• Assists in the collection of outcome measures (as applicable).
• Documents the plan of care, interventions, and evaluations in the patient’s medical record following approved hospital/UHA policies and compliance standards.
