Job summary

Central Connecticut Coast YMCA in Trumbull, CT is seeking an entry-level Gymnastics Instructor to deliver beginner-level sessions with a focus on safe progressions and positive participant experiences.

You will assist with class setup, demonstrations, and parent updates, following YMCA policies and USA Gymnastics progressions under supervision. Prior child-recreation experience is a plus; CPR/First Aid certification is required or obtainable in time.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in recreation or athletics preferred; gymnastics background a plus.
• Ability to demonstrate and teach entry-level skills safely; learns and applies USA Gymnastics progressions.
• Effective communicator and positive role model.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid or ability to obtain within Association timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with participants and families.
• Assist with class set-up/breakdown; maintain clean, organized, and safe spaces; perform basic equipment checks.
• Teach foundational skills and shapes on floor and introductory apparatus using approved progressions and spotting within training level.
• Maintain active, visual supervision; reinforce rules and safety expectations; respond to incidents and complete required reports.
• Support positive communication with parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, and participant progress.
• Follow YMCA policies, emergency procedures, and mandated reporting/abuse-prevention protocols.
