Job summary

GMV YMCA in Hamilton, OH is seeking a Gymnastics Instructor to conduct safe, high-quality gymnastics lessons and keep the center clean. You will work under the direction of the Executive Director to deliver engaging classes for participants of all ages.

Responsibilities include enforcing center rules, maintaining equipment, and recording attendance and progress. CPR/First Aid certifications are preferred. This is a part-time, non-exempt role with starting pay of $11.00 per year.

Qualifications

  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications preferred.

  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and communicates them to participants.
  • Maintains instructional equipment and proper usage/storage of program materials.
  • Monitors participants’ performance, offers improvement suggestions, and ensures safety and standards.
  • Maintains attendance and progress records and other required paperwork.
  • Ensures program and membership standards and safety procedures are followed; completes incident/accident reports as needed.
  • Models relationship-building in all interactions.
  • Schedules and attends trainings and branch/association meetings as required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for conducting safe, high-quality gymnastics lessons for all program participants. The Gymnastics Instructor is also responsible for maintaining a clean gymnastics center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Instructs gymnastics lessons in accordance with GMV YMCA teaching guidelines, having prepared lessons accordingly. Enforces all gymnastic center/gymnasium rules.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate those objectives to participants.
  • Maintains all instructional equipment, including proper usage and storage of any program materials.
  • Monitors participants’ performance to make suggestions for improvement and to ensure safety and knowledge of course standards and objectives.
  • Maintains records and paperwork as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  • Ensures that program and membership standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Models relationship-building in all interactions.
  • Schedules, attends, and facilitates, as needed, all required trainings, and branch and association meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certifications: Current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications preferred.
  • Must have experience in gymnastics safety and gymnastics skill. Must have experience teaching to all levels.
  • Must possess ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and the general public.
  • Must have knowledge of the YMCA mission and application of core values in providing customer service.

  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
