Job summary

Crossroads YMCA in Schererville, IN is seeking a part-time Gymnastics Instructor to deliver high-quality, inclusive gymnastics classes for all ages. You will supervise participants, develop safe lesson plans, and communicate progress to families.

Responsibilities include lead classes, ensure safety, maintain equipment checks, obtain CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days, and participate in training and staff events.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• At least 12 months experience in gymnastics training; teaching experience preferred.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and New Leader Orientation certifications within 30 days of hire.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and documents.
• Passion for learning, working with youth/families, and gymnastics.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and educational gymnastics classes.
• Provide appropriate supervision at all times.
• Create bespoke lesson plans that promote skill progression appropriate to participant age and ability.
• Build authentic relationships with participants and parents, encouraging community connection.
• Model welcoming, motivating, and affirming behaviors.
• Help participants feel confident and celebrated in progress.
• Communicate progress to parents/guardians.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and roster accuracy.
• Complete daily equipment checks and cleaning tasks.
• Maintain required certifications, complete mandatory training, and attend staff meetings and special events.
• Promote YMCA programs and support campaign initiatives.
• Accept additional assignments as appropriate.
