Job summary

Kettle Moraine YMCA West Bend is seeking a part-time Gymnastics Coach to instruct participants, oversee safety, and adapt progression to each participant's needs. The role emphasizes proper technique, safety, and positive engagement with members and families.

Hours are Monday to Friday evenings (4:00–8:00 p.m.). Location is West Bend, WI. Eligible for YMCA benefit programs including a free membership and program discounts. Prior coaching experience in gymnastics is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Knowledge of gymnastics competitions, teaching techniques, and evaluating participant performance.
  • Ability to instruct, coach and spot gymnasts, including upper-level gymnasts.
  • Ability to interact with kids at their cognitive level.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding rules and equipment.
  • Observes students during practice to assess needs and progress.
  • Maintains professionalism while supervising students and coaches.
  • Participates in daily warm-ups.
  • Teaches skills in progression based on participant levels.
  • Applies spotting techniques.
  • Enforces safety procedures at all times.
  • Manages class flow and communicates with instructors and parents.
  • Works cooperatively with staff to serve members and communities.
  • Follows Code of Conduct and Child Abuse Prevention policies.

Status : under 29 hours/week

Location : West Washington (1111 West Washington Street West Bend, WI 53095)

Wage : $15-$20/hour

Hours: Monday-Friday between 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Gymnastics Head Coach the Gymnastics Coach is responsible for instructing participants, overseeing safety and understanding the importance of progression, safety and the individual needs to each participant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, and proper use of equipment
  • Observes students during practice and competition to help determine the needs for the individual or team improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains professionalism while supervising students and coaches during practice and meets.
  • Participates in daily warm-ups.
  • Teach skills in progression and based on each participant’s skill level.
  • Practical application of basic spotting techniques.
  • Enforces the utmost safety procedures at all times.
  • Practices time management skills and communicates with instructors to promote the organizational flow of classes.
  • Communicates, listens and responds in a professional manner with participants and their parents.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with other staff.
  • Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, volunteers, other staff, and the communities we serve.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies within the Child Abuse Prevention handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long amounts of time.
