Our Stamford facility brings together gymnastics, fitness, ice sports, aquatics, and more in a high-energy, team-oriented environment.We are committed to creating exceptional experiences for our athletes, families, and employees through a culture of positivity, professionalism, teamwork, and fun.About The OpportunityJoin the team at Chelsea Piers, where young athletes learn, grow, and build confidence through movement.We are seeking energetic, engaging, and dependable Part-Time Gymnastics Coaches to support both our recreational gymnastics classes and competitive team programs, including Xcel and other competitive levels.Whether you are an experienced competitive gymnastics coach or someone with a background in gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, education, or youth programming, we may have an opportunity that matches your experience.Our part-time gymnastics coaches may lead recreational classes, support competitive teams, or work across both programs based on their experience and qualifications.Recreational coaches introduce children of varying ages and skill levels to gymnastics in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. For preschool-level classes, previous gymnastics coaching experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in dance, cheerleading, camp, childcare, teaching, or other youth programs are encouraged to apply. Enthusiasm, patience, reliability, and the ability to keep children actively engaged are essential.Coaches working with our Xcel and other competitive teams must have previous experience coaching gymnastics at a competitive level. They should be comfortable teaching proper technique, guiding skill progression, maintaining high safety standards, and motivating athletes in a positive and developmentally appropriate way. Competitive team coaches may also lead recreational classes as part of their schedule.Schedule: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week; hours vary between weekday evenings and weekend mornings (one weekend day required); availability of daytime summer shifts.Compensation: $18 - $30 per hour, depending on experiencePrimary ResponsibilitiesLead recreational classes and/or competitive team practices based on your experienceTeach age-appropriate gymnastics skills, progressions, and fundamentalsCreate a safe, positive, and confidence-building environmentKeep athletes engaged, active, and motivatedFollow established lesson plans, practice structures, and safety proceduresProvide clear, encouraging, and constructive feedbackTrack attendance and assist with class or practice organizationCommunicate professionally with fellow coaches, supervisors, athletes, and familiesServe as a positive role model and dependable member of the Chelsea Piers teamRecreational Coach Qualifications:Experience working with children through coaching, teaching, camp, childcare, babysitting, or a related settingBackground in gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, athletics, or youth development preferredPreschool coaches must be especially animated, patient, and skilled at keeping young children engagedCompetitive Team Coach Qualifications:Previous experience coaching gymnastics at a competitive level is requiredKnowledge of gymnastics technique, skill progressions, spotting, and competitive training expectationsExperience coaching Xcel or similar competitive programs strongly preferredAbility to challenge athletes while maintaining a positive, supportive, and safe training environmentBenefitsComplimentary Chelsea Piers membershipPaid sick time
