Job Title: Gym Cleaner and Maintenance Assistant
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Gym Cleaner and Maintenance Assistant at Level II Fitness, located inside the TBK Bank Sports Complex. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for our members and staff. In addition to daily cleaning tasks, the ideal candidate will assist with minor maintenance issues to ensure the facility operates smoothly. This role requires a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing an exceptional gym experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
Cleaning Duties:
- Perform thorough daily cleaning and sanitizing of all areas, including gym floors, equipment, locker rooms, restrooms, stairwells, and common areas, ensuring every surface is spotless and free of dirt or debris.
- Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the facility and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap dispensers promptly to maintain availability for members and staff.
- Dust and wipe down all surfaces, mirrors, and windows, paying close attention to high-traffic and high-touch areas to ensure a consistently pristine appearance.
- Vacuum and mop floors meticulously, ensuring no dirt, dust, or moisture is left behind.
- Conduct deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis, including but not limited to disinfecting gym mats, thoroughly cleaning exercise rooms, and cleaning behind and under equipment.
- Manage the inventory of cleaning supplies and notify managers when supplies are running low.
- Follow proper procedures for the use and disposal of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors.
Maintenance Assistance:
- Address minor maintenance issues, such as tightening equipment bolts, greasing equipment bearings, replacing equipment padding, and other minor tasks.
- Perform routine checks on gym equipment and report any issues to the management team.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all cleaning and maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
Customer Service:
- Respond to member inquiries or requests related to cleanliness and maintenance promptly and professionally.
- Assist with maintaining a welcoming and professional environment for all members and staff.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial work, preferably in a fitness or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of minor maintenance tasks (e.g., using basic tools and performing simple repairs).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a fitness facility or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of fitness equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with cleaning supplies and safe usage of cleaning equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a physically active environment with exposure to cleaning agents and gym equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and perform tasks at various heights when necessary.
