Hi-Tech Mold & Engineering in Rochester Hills, MI seeks a Gundrill CNC Machinist for the night shift. You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC gun drilling machines to produce injection molds per engineering specs, while ensuring tooling, offsets, and machine parameters meet quality standards.

You should read blueprints, select cutting tools, measure parts with precision equipment, and work with engineering and quality teams to improve processes.

Competenze

• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC gun drilling machines.
• Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or similar CNC controls.
• Knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment.

Hi-Tech Mold & Engineering located in Rochester Hills, MI has an opening for a full time Gundrill CNC Machinist for our night shift. Shift: 4:00 p.m. - 2:30 a.m. M-F, Saturdays 5 hours (some flexibility in shift times)

Eligible for 8% shift premium for night shift

Summary of the Position:

The Gundrill CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC gun drilling machines to produce injection molds according to engineering specifications and quality standards. This position requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprint reading, tooling, machine setup, and inspection methods to ensure accurate and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC gun drilling machines to manufacture injection molds.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and machine parameters.
• Monitor machine operations and make program or offset adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Measure and inspect molds using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
• Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, machine performance, part quality, and production efficiency.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain proper coolant, lubrication, and filtration systems.
• Maintain production records, quality documentation, and job setup sheets.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and productivity.
• Assist in training less experienced machinists and operators as needed.
• Follows and supports all quality, safety, and environmental standards applicable to the job

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC gun drilling machines.
• Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or similar CNC controls.
• Knowledge of deep-hole drilling processes and tooling.
• Taurus and/or UNISIG experience a plus
• Knowledge of injection molds a plus
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting.
• Must maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Must be able to be physically onsite to work
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds, be able to view computer screens and paperwork at close distance, distinguishing letters and numbers,
