Job summary

Sportsman’s Warehouse in Utah seeks a Gun Range Lead to supervise and operate the Legacy Shooting Center. You will enforce range rules, provide professional customer service at the counter, and ensure safety and high standards for every shooter.

Responsibilities include opening/closing the range, supervising a team of Gun Range Associates, guiding shooters on safety, and maintaining range cleanliness and equipment to prevent accidents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Firearms background with at least 1 year in gun range operations preferred.
• Range Safety Officer certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Gun Range Associates at the first level.
• Open, close, and staff the facility according to schedule.
• Provide customer service at the counter and operate POS.
• Help customers rent firearms and suggest supplies.
• Regularly clean firearms to maintain safety and warranty.
• Educate shooters on range safety and enforce rules.
• Protect range and equipment from negligent shooters.
• Assist new shooters and ensure comfort and competence.

Description

Purpose of Position:

The Gun Range Lead is responsible for supervision and operation of the Legacy Shooting Center. They is knowledgeable about firearms and firearm safety, willing to firmly enforce range rules, while maintaining a professional, positive demeanor with the customers at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for first level supervision of Gun Range Associates
• Ensure the facility is opened, closed, and staffed according to schedule
• Provide customer service while working the counter and operating point of sale system
• Help customers choose firearms to rent or and suggest additional supplies for an enjoyable shooting experience
• Regularly clean firearms to maintain safety, proper function, and firearm warranty
• Supervise, guide, and educate shooters while on range enforce company standards, rules, and policies while on range
• Play a critical role in preventing accidents while on range and on company property
• Educate range users on proper range safety practices and exhibit customer service and confidence when rules enforcement is necessary
• Protect range and range equipment from negligent shooters
• Assist new/inexperienced shooters on range. Provide comfort and competence to new shooters.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the shooting ranges
• All other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
• Firearms background, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in gun range operations preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Range Safety Officer certification preferred.

• This position is considered active and involves walking or standing for long periods of time.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone , and stoop/kneel to move merchandise
• The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and on a regular basis at any given time. The employee may be required to constantly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, light traffic, gun fire, etc) Protective earwear is required while on the range.
