Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line in Convent, LA, is seeking a Gulf Shuttle Dispatcher to coordinate timely barge movements on a 7 on/7 off schedule. This full-time, on-site role requires tracking load/unload status, updating customers with real-time information, and working with stakeholders to optimize movement plans.

You will enter data in the Logistics Management System, monitor vessel positions, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while supporting fleet efficiency and service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• 3-5 years of logistics experience.
• Competence in dispatching, logistics or fleet planning techniques.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute barge and boat schedules within assigned river segment.
• Identify short-term power needs within assigned river segment.
• Provide area manager with daily activity forecast and validate current plan.
• Communicate boat and barge positions, schedules, and other information as required.
• Update barge release and placement information.
• Notify customers of pending barge arrivals, projected availability, and barge placements and releases.
• Assist in planning and coordinating fleet boat and barge movement safely to maximize utilization.
• Maximize cleaning and repair facility utilization and minimize idle days and shifting costs.
• Manage vendor activities within assigned river segment to improve fleet speed and capacity.
• Enter vendor, barge and traffic data into computer system.
• Communicate orders to harbor service vendors and coordinate port occurrences.
• Monitor barge traffic for exceptions and make corrections.
• Ensure compliance with company policy and government regulations.
• Initiate process improvements on workflows to meet customer expectations.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, salaried opportunity with a 7 on/7 off schedule. This means 7 days on, working a 12-hour shift, then the following 7 days off.

• Initiate process improvements on work flow to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for...
