Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time music program leader to work with children and adults in the corps and community. You will plan curricula, lead music classes, and organize performances and exhibitions to showcase and develop musical talents while promoting the organization’s mission.

You will collaborate with corps leadership, oversee recital planning, and help drive outreach through community events and summer programs.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
• Personal knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Must be a team player, self-starter, and follow through with assignments until completion.
• A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
• A strong commitment to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Lead music and other arts programs within the corps as assigned and plan weekly lesson curriculum.
• Plan and attend all corps recitals and prepare programs for the annual end-of-year concert.
• Encourage participants to set goals and develop musical abilities to boost self-esteem and program pride.
• Organize musical performances and community activities to raise awareness of the corps mission.
• Encourage participation in summer camps and camp programs, including divisional and day camps.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
