Position Details

School Secretary
Reports to: Principal / Headmaster
School Hours: 7:30am-2:10pm
Surround Care until 4:30pm for K0-1
City Of Boston Resident Required

General Description

Under general supervision, serves as secretary to the principal or headmaster of a school; performs complex clerical work requiring exercise of independent judgment. Uses current technology to carry out duties.

Responsibilities
  • Performs general correspondence
  • Maintains pupil and teacher records and prepares reports
  • Maintains confidentiality of records, communications, and information
  • Sorts and distributes mail
  • Keeps records of all money received and spent from school activities
  • Inputs and monitors information related to requisitions, supplies, and repairs
  • Prepares transcripts of student records
  • Registers or assists in student registration and discharge
  • Answers telephone and inquiries professionally, redirects calls as needed
  • Operates office machines as appropriate
  • Greets and assists visitors professionally
  • Prepares payrolls
  • Maintains files
  • Responds to inquiries from parents, teachers, pupils, and staff
  • Performs related duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Basic computer skills including word processing and email
  • Completed appropriate coursework
  • Good communication skills

Current authorization to work in the United States is required by the first day of employment.
