They prioritize their employees, offering diverse career opportunities, flexible schedules, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits to foster a healthy and fulfilling work-life balance. The company emphasizes an inclusive environment built upon integrity and corporate responsibility.

Job Description: Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer

Lockheed Martin is seeking an emerging Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join a team supporting various contracts and internal research and development (IRAD) projects within Missiles and Fire Control. The role involves designing, integrating, and testing GNC, tracking, and servo control algorithm solutions for missile and fire control products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Algorithm Development and Analysis: Design, integrate, and test GNC, tracking, and/or servo control algorithm solutions, including guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms.
  2. Modeling and Simulation: Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations, such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations and effects-based simulations.
  3. System Performance Evaluation: Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments, verifying system and subsystem level requirements.
  4. Testing and Analysis: Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities, including support for ground and flight test efforts and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
  5. Program Support: Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and external customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar field.
  2. Demonstrated ability to perform GNC or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tasks such as developing and analyzing GNC algorithms or verifying complex vehicle models.
  3. Proficiency in programming languages: C++, Matlab, Python.
  4. Strong math skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with signal/image processing algorithms.
  • Proficiency with C++, Matlab, Python, and Linux.
  • Ability to perform preflight system performance assessments and post-flight verification analyses.
  • Experience designing and analyzing target tracking and terrestrial navigation systems.
  • Experience with optimal state estimation filters (e.g., extended Kalman filters).
  • Skills in probability, statistics, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Experience with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience deploying algorithms that meet real-time performance requirements.

Security Clearance: This position requires a government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. The required clearance level is Secret.

Work Location: Onsite full-time at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. A 4×10 hour day schedule (3 days off per week) is available. Relocation may be possible.
