This position will be located in Ashburn, VA, or remote CONUS.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, gather, and review requirements supporting the design and implementation of wired/wireless LANs.
  2. Perform site surveys to design the network, including device placement and materials required for implementation and configuration.
  3. Conduct wireless site surveys and basic RF spectrum analysis using tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, etc.
  4. Create and deliver detailed documentation of the design, floorplans, signal strength maps, device locations, required materials, and integration approach.
  5. Utilize extensive network knowledge to facilitate the design and integration of wired/wireless LAN/WAN systems into existing networks.
  6. Collaborate with senior engineers to implement wireless security protocols and policies (e.g., WPA2/3, 802.1x).
  7. Perform testing and evaluation of wired and wireless networks to confirm performance and security thresholds.
  8. Design and test prototype network components and configurations to validate before deployment.
  9. Support firmware upgrades and patching of hardware.
  10. Assist with wireless capacity planning and coverage optimization.
  11. Provide and author detailed technical documentation, including proposals, integration instructions, and assembly guidelines.
  12. Lead and direct team members and subcontractors as needed.
  13. Stay updated on industry trends and standards (e.g., Wi-Fi 6/6E/7).

Job Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience (5-7 years).
  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level I or II compliant.
  • Experience in network administration, upgrades, and operations.
  • Strong technical writing skills; experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication rooms, CAT 6 wiring, and standards; BICSI certification is a plus.
  • Experience with team leadership, site surveys, and configuration of wireless equipment (802.11 standards).
  • Experience with enterprise wireless systems (e.g., Aruba, Cisco, Ruckus); certifications are a plus.
  • Understanding of wireless security practices and authentication methods; experience with Network Access Control is a plus.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment to optimize wireless networks.
  • Understanding of wired network equipment, protocols, and traffic propagation.
  • Experience working at heights and knowledge of OSHA safety rules.
  • Willingness to travel up to 85% of the time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with military and government personnel.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be a US citizen eligible to access sensitive information.
