Position:

Elementary School Counselor / Social Worker

Reports to:

Director of Student Services and Building Principal

Requirements:

• M.A. in counseling and Michigan certification or the ability to obtain
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with non-school agencies
• Ability to work in classrooms, small groups and in individual settings
• Knowledge of counseling and intervention strategies
• Commitment to asset-based approach to students
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse cultural, racial and socioeconomic student population
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with parents
• Ability to work as a team member with staff and administration
• Self-directed, organized, and able to prioritize when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks
• Technology experience and application in the counseling process

Preferences:

• Previous experience in counseling – elementary level or middle school level
• Training or desire to be a trauma certified counselor
• Comprehensive School Counseling programs including ASCA or SchoolSocial Work certification. Mindsets Behaviors for Student Success.
