Position Summary

The Guest Services Staff (GSS) position is an integral member of the operations team. The programs strive to provide services to adults experiencing homelessness in a manner that facilitates safety, trust, and collaboration. CSS programs uphold the ideals of empowering participants. This highly mobile position is responsible for the general welfare and safety of all program participants and fellow staff members.

About Our Program/Department

The Guest Services position has a variety of shifts and locations which use the GSS as a critical member of its teams. The following are the locations which require GSS support and are a part of the Adult Homelessness Services Team at CSS. You may apply once, and we will work with you to determine the best location based on your preferences and our needs.

Brother Francis Shelter

Complex Care Shelter

3rd Avenue Resource & Navigation Center

Part of a campus providing services 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, serving up to 100 clients. Details at 3rd Avenue Resource & Navigation Center - Catholic Social Services - Alaska.

56th Ave Shelter

Offers 24/7 services for up to 200 guests, fostering a safe and empowering environment.

Responsibilities

Guest Services

• Ensure safety and welfare of guests and staff, crisis intervention
• Provide referrals, adhere to trauma-informed principles, promote autonomy

Program Administration

• Maintain shelter operations, safety checks, complete reports, support program goals, pass information between shifts

Community Engagement

• Handle calls, messages, inquiries, greet visitors, manage front desk, process donations, other duties

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 1 year experience in human services or related fields

Work Environment

Indoor/outdoor duties, crowded settings, physical demands include standing, sitting, lifting up to 25 lbs., driving. Locations include Brother Francis Shelter, Complex Care Shelter, 3rd Ave Center, or 56th Ave Shelter in Anchorage, AK. Shifts vary: 8am-4pm, 4pm-midnight, midnight-8am.
