JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to manage the desk in the Health and Recreation Center, to provide knowledgeable and friendly customer service, to serve the seminary community by providing education, programming and facilities that encourage and assist seminary community members and their families to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

  1. Greet HRC patrons. Check SBTS ID cards and guest passes and permit entry as appropriate.
  2. Maintain a clean, organized and professional looking front desk area.
  3. Functional knowledge with all upcoming HRC event details, and HRC programs.
  4. Check in/out equipment. Keep all equipment sanitary and organized in storage closets.
  5. Provide information and assistance to patrons as requested.
  6. Interpret and enforce policies and procedures for patrons.
  7. Open and close the facility as assigned.
  8. Report maintenance needs to Coordinator of GSA.
  9. Participate as a staff member in designing, promoting and planning programs.
  10. Assist patrons with locker and towel services registration.
  11. Complete daily duties assigned by the Coordinator of GSA.
  12. Functional knowledge of id system (i.e. procedures and equipment).
  13. Attend all scheduled shifts, mandatory staff training, various events, monthly meetings, locker clean out, and First Aid/AED training.
  14. Will be required to work one Fall Festival shift, as well as attend clean-up after the event.
  15. Assist patrons in registering for events, services or programs.
  16. Answer and transfer phone calls. Take detailed written messages.
  17. Maintain excellent communication through verbal interaction, Communications Log and the Front Desk Daily Journal.
  18. Oversee that all forms are filled out legibly, correctly and completely.
  19. Assist Coordinator of GSA and Director of HRC as needed.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Coordinator of GSA.

EDUCATION:

This person must have a high school diploma.

EXPERIENCE:

The person needs no previous experience but previous experience is preferred.

SUPERVISION:

The person in this position will supervise no one. The person in this position will report to the Coordinator of GSA.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, problem solving skills and phone etiquette.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The person in this position will work in an area where one will typically be sitting at a desk or table, intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, lifting light objects (less than 25 lbs), and lifting heavy objects (more than 25 lbs). Work is typically performed in a busy and sometimes noisy place.

EQUIPMENT:

The person in this position will use the following equipment: Printer/copier, TVs, DVD player, Wii, Google Drive, SBTS Tracking system, HRC website, various children’s equipment, intramural gear, and sports equipment.
