Job summary

Indian Prairie Public Library District in Darien, Illinois, is seeking a part-time Guest Services Associate to welcome visitors with a smile and provide a warm, helpful library experience.

You will assist guests with checkout, help them locate books and information, and make recommendations for books, movies, and music, ensuring seamless service across all interactions. Schedule options include four weekly shifts totaling 12–20 hours; U.S. citizenship is required for passport services.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen to provide passport services.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of work experience dealing with the public.
• Proficiency in using computers and other devices, including smartphones and tablets.
• Reliable transportation.

Our Guest Services Associates are the essence of our guests’ experiences at the library. You greet people with a smile and welcome them in. As the person our guests go to for assistance, you make sure they get what they need, providing seamless service and a wonderful user experience. You are the ambassador for the library, enthusiastically sharing all the wonderful things we offer.

You provide an amazing library experience for each guest:

• Helping them find the book they want.
• Assisting them with checkout services.
• Getting them the information they need.
• Providing recommendations of the books, movies, and music they’ll enjoy.

Qualifications include:

The salary is $18.58 per hour. This is a part-time, non-seasonal position and averages 12–20 hours per week.

Monday: 1–5 p.m.
Tuesday: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Wednesday: 5–9 p.m.
Every other weekend: (Saturday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. & Sunday: 1–5 p.m.)

Wednesday: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Thursday: 1–5 p.m.
Every other weekend: (Saturday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. & Sunday: 1–5 p.m.)
