Choice Hotels International seeks a Software Engineer 1 to join the Guest & Loyalty Domain in Scottsdale. You will analyze user stories and develop secure Java code with Spring, while using AI tools to boost productivity and code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of Java (v1.8+) with Spring (REST, MVC, Security).
• Hands-on AWS or other cloud experience.
• Proficient with Jira and Confluence.
• REST API design and consumption knowledge.
• Source control with Git; familiar with branches and merges.
• Experience in modern IDEs (IntelliJ/VS Code) and Maven/Gradle.
• Understanding secure coding practices and application security basics.
• Strong debugging and logging/monitoring skills.
• SQL basics and relational DB fundamentals.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills.
• Curiosity about AI tools like Copilot/Claude.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user stories and develop secure, maintainable Java code with Spring.
• Use AI tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and integration testing.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and CI/CD workflows.
• Support cloud deployments (AWS) and monitor production systems.
