Job summary

Black Bear Diner Vallejo is hiring for a friendly front-of-house server to greet guests, take orders, and provide attentive service across breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts. You will handle beverage service, communicate specials, and ensure guest satisfaction while maintaining a clean dining area and working closely with kitchen staff.

Ideal candidates are punctual, able to stand for long periods, and hold a Food Handlers Certification.

Qualifications

• Front-of-house hospitality skills including greeting guests warmly and maintaining a positive attitude.
• Strong communication and memory for orders; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Respect for food safety and hygiene; adherence to uniform standards.
• Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain one prior to or soon after start date.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests professionally within two minutes of seating and introduce yourself by name.
• Take and repeat back food orders to ensure accuracy; communicate any unavailable items.
• Enter orders into Aloha POS system and relay special requests to kitchen staff.
• Offer beverages and upsell drinks; announce specials at each meal period.
• Check back with guests for beverage refills and overall satisfaction; inform guests of delays when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining area; coordinate with kitchen and expeditors.
• Ensure proper handling of guest checks, resolve issues with management guidance, and work as a team.
