Job summary

ShopRite of Palisades Park is seeking a cashier to deliver a great customer experience at the front end. You will scan, price, bag and process payments while ensuring accurate change and friendly service.

The role requires basic math, strong English communication, and the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. You will work with a team in a fast-paced store environment, following safety and policy guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed foods and manage allergens.
• Ability to handle dust and cleaning agents.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned schedules and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces according to standards.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Perform duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations for Front-End operations.
• Follow company policies and safety requirements.
• Dress and groom according to policy; wear uniform, name badge and hat/hair restraint.
• Use QA hand washing standards and gloves when handling unpackaged foods.
• Greet Customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Understand cash register operations and cash handling procedures.
• Accurately identify and scan products when needed.
• Lift and move merchandise up to 50 lbs.
• Check prices and locate items in store.
• Process payments accurately; provide proper change.
• Promote current charitable promotions to Customers.
• Bag customer orders safely and efficiently.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock items per policy.
• Adhere to ShopRite Service Priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, Efficiency.
