Job summary

The Mess Hall in San Francisco is seeking skilled cashiers to join our busy front-of-house team. This fast-paced role focuses on taking accurate orders for food, beverages, and market items while delivering friendly, attentive service.

You'll use Toast POS, handle cash and card payments, check IDs for alcohol orders as required by California law, and work closely with managers, bartenders, and the FOH team to keep service smooth and guests happy.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier, restaurant, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
• California RBS certification or ability to obtain is required for alcohol orders at the counter.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take customer orders for food, beverages, and market items.
• Enter orders accurately into the POS system and process payments.
• Check IDs and follow California alcohol-service requirements when taking alcohol orders.
• Work with managers and bartenders to keep service organized and efficient.
• Answer questions about menu items and market offerings.
