Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a customer-focused cashier to provide outstanding service in our retail grocery environment. You will assist customers, answer questions, process transactions, and uphold store policies while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Ideal candidates will be 18 or older with strong communication and math skills, able to handle stressful situations and promote ongoing promotions. This on-site role offers opportunities to grow within a busy store setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (e.g., counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Know products in departments and respond to questions, making product suggestions.
• Report pricing and scanning discrepancies to the manager.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure returns/exchanges satisfy customers while following policies.
• Inform customers about new and ongoing promotions.
• Handle funds, coupons, tenders per policy.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking to support ordering system integrity.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the manager.
• Stay up-to-date with ads and promotions.
• Follow policies for post office, money orders, licenses, etc.
• Observe shift hours.
• Answer store calls promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with merchandising, cash controls, labor, and safety rules.
• Adhere to food safety guidelines on returns.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks and illegal activity.
• Comply with weights and measures laws and labeling.
• Must perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
