Job summary

Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY, is seeking an Exhibits Interpreter to help deliver outstanding guest experiences. You will train hosts, manage daily operations, and ensure safety and policy compliance while representing our core values.

The role requires strong public speaking, teamwork, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and events. Previous supervisory exposure is a plus, and you will receive comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform duties of an Exhibits Interpreter with minimal supervision.
• Strong public speaking skills.
• Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
• Willingness to take direction and coaching to improve your skills and guest experience.
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a changing environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Willingness and ability to work after hour events on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Perform, implement, and adhere to Herschend Enterprises’ Core Values and Newport Aquarium Operations Accountabilities, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest services operations.
• Maintain appropriate guest and host relations, ensuring guest and host satisfaction and safety.
• Provide onboarding and ongoing training to operations hosts to deliver the best Guest Experience.
• Handle comments, concerns, and suggestions regarding policy and procedure from guests and hosts.
• Take direction from Operations Management Team and carry out duties in guest experience operations and guest services.
• Address host and guest comments with authority to render policy exceptions as needed.
• Become First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP, and Emergency Response trained.
• Provide ongoing coaching to recognize good performance and correct unacceptable behaviors.
• Monitor daily staffing, breaks, and ensure proper paperwork completion.
• Maintain courteous, professional leadership and a neat appearance in all interactions.
• Ensure hosts are informed of events, groups, and programming/promotions.
• Utilize interpretation training to enhance guest communication and engagement.
• Keep the facility clean and ensure opening/closing procedures are followed.
• Implement emergency procedures according to Newport Aquarium policy as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Operations Management Team.
