Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is hiring for multiple part-time Clerk/Cashier positions at recreation centers. Expect front desk duties, cashiering, member verification, and data entry in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Evening and weekend shifts are required; training is provided. The role is non-exempt, with potential overtime and flexible seasonal hours. Benefits eligibility varies by schedule.

Qualifications

• High School or GED plus one (1) year of experience in the fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Train, mentor, coach and provide guidance and leadership.
• Serve as a shift supervisor which includes supervision and unit accountability.
• Cashier/fee collection – utilize computerized POS cash register and process varied monetary transactions.
• Center Entry – Validate memberships or day passes and process visitors.
• Data entry – Keyboarding, set up customer accounts, enter class registrations, facility cards, room rentals, basic bookkeeping and accounting.
• Clerical – file alphabetically and chronologically, research information, answer multi-line phone, prepare items for mailing.
