Job summary

Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants is hiring a Host / Carryout Staff for our Wheeling, IL location. You will warmly greet guests, manage seating, answer phones, take reservations, and assist with carryout orders while delivering friendly, high-quality service.

You’ll work a variety of shifts, including weekends, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Clear English communication with guests and teammates is essential.

Qualifications

• Warmly greet and seat guests in the restaurant.
• Answer telephones, take orders, messages and reservations.
• Available to work a variety of hours, including weekends.
• Safely and effectively move chairs, tables, highchairs and booster seats.
• Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift and move through all areas of the restaurant.
• Ability to communicate in English to perform written and spoken duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs.
• Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile.
• Use tact and good judgement when dealing with guest challenges and respond with patience and courtesy.
• Assist with clearing, cleaning and resetting tables and maintain restrooms.
• Sell and accurately account for gift cards.
• Use proper phone and voicemail etiquette and guidelines.
• Record and account for all items ordered, process payments, and balance receipts in compliance with restaurant policies.
• Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu.
• Use sales techniques to present current promotions to guests.
• Follow all steps of service.
• Understand and follow food allergy procedures and restrictions.
• Proficiency in the use and operation of reservation, telephone, paging and voicemail systems.
• Comply with safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
• Complete alcohol awareness training.
• Follow all employment policies and be a team player.
• Other duties as needed.
