Job summary

The Kroger family of companies is seeking friendly associates at the Spanaway, WA store to greet customers, process checkouts quickly and accurately, and create a welcoming shopping experience.

You will handle POS transactions, observe cash-handling rules, follow safety guidelines, assist with promos and loyalty offers, and support loss prevention while delivering respectful, honest service.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process transactions at the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons).
• Adhere to cash shortage/overage limits and prevent loss.
• Follow guidelines for restricted items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and arrange repairs as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Follow laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
