Job summary

Kroger is hiring for a Store Operations role in Suffolk, VA. The Cashier/Checker greets customers, processes transactions, and assists with product questions while operating the POS system and adhering to loss prevention guidelines.

You'll work in a fast-paced retail environment, ensuring accuracy in tender handling and compliance with safety and store policies. Training is provided, with opportunities to grow within Kroger's nationwide store network.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greeting, engaging and assisting customers at the checkout.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle tender types per policy.
• Follow cash handling limits and loss prevention guidelines.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions, including seasonal offers.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Support safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
