Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is seeking a part-time Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding customer service in-store. You will greet customers, process transactions at the checkout, and ensure accurate handling of cash and other payment methods.

You will follow store policies on restricted items, maintain safety standards and assist customers with questions, while contributing to a clean, welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Position Qualifications: Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Cashier/Checker greets, engages and assists customers
• Process transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
• Operate POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, EBT, coupons)
• Adhere to cash-handling limits and prevent loss
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies to Scan Coordinator
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards and coupons
• Maintain food safety and safety procedures
• Create welcoming environment and assist customers with questions
• Comply with local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
• Handle high-paced, sometimes stressful situations and resolve issues
