Job summary

Discovery Lab (Tulsa Children's Museum) is seeking a Guest Engagement Facilitator to greet guests, assist with front desk duties, and promote memberships. You will help ensure a memorable, educational, and safe visit for all guests, including during events and rentals.

The role demands high hospitality standards, strong communication, and reliable attendance, with after-hours events and weekends required in a part-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests at the front desk and facilitate welcome experiences in the exhibits.
  • Promote memberships and member benefits and assist guests with purchases.
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of guest areas, exhibits, and lobby.
  • Assist with events, birthdays, and facility rentals as scheduled.
  • Process payments and handle cash at front desk and retail areas.
  • Be the go-to guide for Discovery Lab’s activities, events, and attractions.

Job description

GuestEngagementFacilitators are the main point of contact forDiscovery Lab guests. This positionis responsiblefor facilitating customer-facing roles such as greeting guests at the museum’sfront deskandensuring a world-class experience in exhibitgallery spaces. Every shift is a new chance to make someone's day fun, welcoming, educational, and safe from start to finish. Above all, this role creates "remember-when" moments and hospitality that keeps guests coming back.

Primary Hospitality Responsibilities
  • Bring exhibits, pop-ups, and demos to life so guests create joyful curiosity while they play.
  • Keep guests safe and exhibits reset, refreshed, and ready for the next round of fun.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for museum floor operations.
  • Be the go-to guide for Discovery Lab’s activities, events, and attractions.
  • Facilitate exceptional experiences for birthday parties and facility rentals as scheduled.
  • Greeting and checking in guests at the front desk. Processing payments and cash handling as well as communicating daily programming and upcoming events.
  • Greeting and supporting customers in the retail space, including processing payments.
  • Promoting memberships and member benefits as well as getting to know members and loyal guests.
  • Keep all guest-facing spaces, including the exhibit floor, lobby, and ticketing area clean and welcoming.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the museum to be able to answer general questions by guests.
  • Provide excellent customer service and hospitality to visitors.
  • Cheer on, appreciate, and mentor our amazing volunteers.
  • Keep regular, punctual attendance.
  • Adhere to the appropriate dress code.

All Discovery Lab staff are encouraged to enhance team spirit and support throughout the organization.

This position is regular part-time, and nonexempt. The typical work schedule for this job will be dependent upon staffing needs. After-hours events and weekends are required. Moderate to loud noise environment.

Classification: Nonexempt

Salary Range: $13.50 - $18.23 per hour

Reports to: Guest Engagement Manager

Physical Demands: 5% sitting, 85% standing, 10% lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling not more than 10-30 lbs.
