Job summary

Curtis Contracting, Inc. in Newport News, VA is seeking a Skilled Laborer in the Guardrail Division. Under close supervision, you will perform traffic control, concrete preparation, and guardrail installation at outdoor construction sites, maintaining safety standards and procedures.

You should be physically able to lift up to 75 pounds, work in varying weather, and follow verbal and written instructions while collaborating with coworkers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and practical application to operate mini excavators, skid steers, front end loaders and familiar with some aspects of heavy equipment operation.
• Techniques of traffic control.
• OSHA safety rules and regulations, and safety standards in hazardous traffic environments.
• Federal and state safety laws and regulations.
• Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of small construction equipment as well as miscellaneous hand held tools according to standard operating and safety procedures.
• Following safe work practices.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers.
• Following verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic control duties.
• Prepare concrete.
