Position Overview

The Guarani Telephone Interpreter is responsible for handling calls on demand and interpreting conversations between Guarani and English speakers.

Essential Job Functions

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the sessions.
• Remain calm during emergency or stressful calls such as 911.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and protocol to ensure expectations are met.
• Understand industry-specific terminology for medical, insurance, finance, etc.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Guarani and English, with strong cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills for high accuracy.
• Ability to concentrate, remain neutral, and handle sensitive subject matter.
• High school diploma or equivalent; education or experience in language fields preferred.
• Minimum age 18 and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Candidate must not be currently employed by LanguageLine or an affiliated business.
• Ability to read and write both languages highly preferred.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device (desktop/laptop, tablet, or smartphone) with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• High‑speed Internet with at least 5Mbps download, 3Mbps upload, ping ≤300ms, jitter ≤30ms.
• Quiet workspace free from background noise.

Physical Requirements

• Operate keyboard and mouse, remain seated for majority of the day.
• Lift up to 26lbs. May be exposed to moderate noise.
