Job summary

NRG Energy in Houston, TX is seeking a Strategic Insights Manager to serve as the analytical and strategic partner to Go to Market leadership, translating customer, operational, and financial data into actionable recommendations that improve retention and business performance.

In partnership with Data Analytics, you frame business questions, size opportunities, develop business cases, and communicate clear recommendations to senior leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, strategic analytics, business insights, or related discipline.
• Advanced proficiency with Power BI or Tableau, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead analyses of customer, operational, and financial performance to identify trends, root causes, risks, and opportunities.
• Frame ambiguous business challenges as structured questions and testable hypotheses, defining the data and analyses required.
• Develop executive-ready presentations and decision materials that explain what the data shows, why it matters, and recommended actions.
• Partner with Data Analytics to define requirements, provide business context, interpret outputs, validate findings, and communicate assumptions.
• Translate insights into practical priorities and actions, constructively challenging assumptions when evidence supports a different direction.
• Define baselines, KPIs, and measurement plans with initiative owners and evaluate post-implementation results.
