Job summary

Great Smoky Mountains Railroad (GSMR) is seeking Polar Café Staff in Bryson City, NC for seasonal work during Polar train excursions. You will assist with food prep, customer service, cash handling, inventory control, merchandise, supply restocking, and facility upkeep.

Requirements include being at least 16, valid driver’s license preferred, ability to stand long hours, lift up to 25 lbs, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Training provided and uniforms supplied.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for Depot Polar Café.
• Provide customer service and menu knowledge.
• Handle cash transactions accurately.
• Assist with inventory, stocking, and merchandise.
• Maintain sanitary and safe food handling procedures.
• Follow health department regulations and uniform policy.
• Support Food & Beverage in other tasks as needed.

# GSMR Polar Cafe StaffBRYSON CITY, NC 28713## OverviewSalary Range$12.00 - $14.00 HourlyLevelEntryPosition TypeSeasonal## Description**Division/Department:** Food & Beverage**Job Title:** Polar Café Staff**Reports To:** Food & Beverage Management**Type of position:** Non-Exempt / Hourly**Employee Classification:** Temporary (Ends December 31st)**Location:** Bryson City, NC **Compensation:** $12-14 per hour + Tips**Job Summary:** Responsible for the duties of the Depot Polar Café during Polar train excursions including but not limited to food prep, customer service, cash handling, inventory control, merchandise, supply restocking, and facility upkeep.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Check with MOD for daily numbers and objectives* Preparing food for Depot Polar Café* Provide customer service, information about the posted menu, have knowledge of food ingredients, providing guests with directions* Cash handling including accurate count of start-up and ending monies, accurate change counting, and accurate sales transactions.* Ensure that the service is at all times performed in a professional manner and to the style as specified by Food & Beverage Management.* Adhere to company service standards, procedures and policies.* Maintain compliance with health department regulations.* Maintain sanitary and safe food handling procedures.* Assist with receiving, storage and proper handling of inventories.* Assist with Food and Beverage in any other area or task.* Be in complete uniform* Other duties as requested by GSMR Management**Work Environment:*** Cash register (Square system)* Kitchen equipment: including but not limited to oven, steam tables, cutlery and air fryer* Ability to work in various weather conditions, including snow, rain, and extreme temperatures.* Flexibility with assigned work schedule(s)## Qualifications**Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:*** Valid driver’s license, preferred.* Must be at least 16 years of age.* Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.* Ability be on your feet for extended periods of time.* Able to lift up to 25 lbs
