Job summary

Octopus Energy is seeking a Strategy Associate to join the US strategy team. You will own strategic projects end to end, from sizing opportunities to standing the initiative up, across the US energy landscape and across multiple sub-sectors.

You will work closely with the US CFO on strategic finance, budgeting, and scenario testing, turning early bets into scalable playbooks while contributing to decarbonization and growth objectives.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical foundation from relevant roles (consulting, IB, PE/VC, corp dev).
• Fluency with spreadsheets and connection between budgets/forecasts and business cases.
• Comfort owning outcomes with minimal oversight.
• Commercial instinct for deals and integrations; track synergy cases to P&L.
• Curiosity to learn energy regulations, tariffs, and market rules.

Responsibilities

• Own discrete strategic projects end to end: size the opportunity, build the case, get buy-in, and stand it up.
• Work across the US energy landscape as opportunities emerge across multiple sub-sectors.
• Realize value in M&A: integrate businesses and chase synergies from thesis to execution.
• Turn early-stage bets into repeatable operations with playbooks for scale.
• Partner with the US CFO on strategic finance, budgeting, and scenario testing.
