Job summary

Octopus Energy Group in the US is seeking a Strategy Associate to join the fast-growing US strategy team. This role blends corporate development and commercial opportunities, taking strategic concepts from idea to operating reality.

You will own end-to-end projects, navigate the fragmented US energy landscape, contribute to M&A value, and build scalable playbooks for growth. The role requires strong analytical skills, comfort with budgets and forecasts, and the ability to operate with autonomy

Qualifications

• Strong analytical foundation from strategy consultancy, investment banking, or similar high-growth environments.
• Fluency with spreadsheets; understanding how budgets, forecasts and business cases connect to strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own discrete strategic projects end to end: size the opportunity, build the business case, obtain buy-in, and stand it up.
• Work across the US energy landscape as opportunities emerge (battery deployment, retail supply, utility programs).
• Realize value in M&A activity: integrate acquired businesses and build synergies.
• Turn early-stage bets into repeatable operations: first deal, first site, first market, first customer cohort.
• Partner with the US CFO on strategic finance and budgeting; ensure budgets reflect strategic priorities.
• Build commercial and analytical foundations; unit economics, market structure, counterparty landscape.
• Operate with intent and limited oversight.
