Job summary

Octopus Energy is seeking a Strategy Associate to join the US strategy team in Boulder, Colorado. This role focuses on hands-on execution across corporate development and transformative commercial opportunities, from origination to implementation.

You’ll own strategic initiatives end-to-end, collaborate across the US energy landscape, and help realize synergies from acquisitions while building repeatable processes for scale.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical foundation from strategy consultancy, IB, PE/VC, corp dev, or high-growth operating role.
• Fluency in spreadsheets and understanding how budgets, forecasts, and business cases connect to strategic projects.
• Comfort owning outcomes with minimal oversight and initiative to ask for help as needed.
• Commercial instinct for deals, integrations, and partnerships; track synergy cases end to end.
• Curiosity to learn fast on energy market rules and regulation without being an expert at day one.

Responsibilities

• Own discrete strategic projects end to end: size the opportunity, build the case, secure decisions, and stand it up.
• Work across the US energy landscape as opportunities emerge (battery deployment, retail supply, utility programs).
• Realize value from M&A: integrate acquired businesses and unlock synergies.
• Turn early-stage bets into repeatable operations—build the playbook for scale.
• Partner with the US CFO on strategic finance and budgeting; align budgets with priorities.
• Build commercial and analytical foundations: unit economics, market structure, counterparty landscape.
• Operate on intent with limited oversight; drive outcomes with autonomy.
