Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Compression Technician in Columbia, SC. Pay rate is $21.00 per hour for a 1st shift (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Thursday).

Ideal candidates will hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have 3–5 years of related mechanical experience, with the ability to lift 50 pounds and use basic hand tools. Competitive benefits are provided along with ample opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of related mechanical experience.
• Mechanically inclined with basic hand tools.
• Knowledge of machine testing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures to ensure quality assembly of components.
• Assemble parts by examining connections for proper fit, fastening them together, and assembling subassemblies.
• Disassemble components using hand and power tools.
• Clean and buff components as needed.
• Wash components in solvent and run parts through the parts washer.
• Blowout parts to remove solvent and dirt.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment following 5S protocol.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
