Job summary

Wabtec in Columbia, SC is hiring a Compression Technician to assemble and test components, following detailed instructions and safety procedures. The role requires basic tools use, a mechanical mindset, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

You will work Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM on the 1st shift, with competitive benefits and company-paid training opportunities through Staffmark's partner program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years related experience in light industrial or mechanical background.
• Mechanically inclined with experience using basic hand tools.
• Knowledge of machine testing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures to ensure quality assembly of components.
• Assemble parts by examining connections for proper fit, fastening them together, and assembling subassemblies.
• Disassemble components using hand and power tools.
• Clean and buff components as needed.
• Wash components in solvent and run parts through the parts washer.
• Blowout parts to remove solvent and dirt.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment following 5S protocol.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
