Job summary

SEK-CAP, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Teacher to collaborate with staff, deliver developmentally appropriate services for 3-5 year olds, and support Head Start standards. The role includes some Lead Teacher duties and active involvement in family engagement and program compliance.

The position requires CDA credential or equivalent, 3–5 years of experience, and First Aid/CPR. Travel for training and ongoing professional development may be necessary; in person work location.

Qualifications

• Preschool CDA credential or state credential required; may lead to degree.
• 3-5 years experience with young children in a classroom setting preferred.
• Must have First Aid and CPR certification.
• Eligibility to obtain KDHE program approval.
• Must pass standard criminal history check.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet insurance guidelines.
• Complete physical exam and TB skin test before starting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver developmentally appropriate services for 3–5 year olds.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure Head Start standards and compliance.
• Occasionally step in as Lead Teacher when needed.
• Support Family Services and community engagement activities.
• Maintain data entry and program documentation accuracy.
• Contribute to safety, nutrition, and health monitoring protocols.
