Job summary

Apella Wealth, a West Hartford, CT-based wealth advisory firm, is seeking an Accounting Associate to support the accounting team and finance department. You’ll handle accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and monthly closings while helping develop future procedures.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in accounting, an associate degree in accounting, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with QuickBooks or similar software.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in an accounting or finance role
• Associate degree in Accounting or related field; bachelor’s preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Sage Intacct)
• Knowledge of GAAP is a plus, strong attention to detail and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and maintain financial reports, statements, and records in compliance with policies and standards
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings and reconciliations
• Process invoices, payments, and other financial transactions timely
• Review expense reports for adherence to policies and ensure proper payments
• Assist with payroll management, reporting, and forecasting
• Ensure timecard accuracy and prepare journal entries for the general ledger
• Support accounts payable/receivable functions and follow up on outstanding payments
• Assist with tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making
