Job summary

Airwallex is seeking an Engineering Lead to guide a team building AI-native growth platforms that power customer acquisition and expansion.

You will blend technical leadership with hands-on problem solving to deliver scalable, measurable outcomes and collaborate across Product, Design, Data Science, Marketing and Sales.

You will mentor engineers, set architecture direction, and drive cross-functional initiatives across global teams to raise the engineering bar and deliver value.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with leadership of teams or complex initiatives.
• Strong backend/frontend/full-stack experience designing, building, operating scalable production systems (Python, Java/Kotlin, React, TypeScript).
• Proven technical leadership with track record of delivering high-quality solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop engineers through mentorship and delegation.
• Strong ownership, product judgment, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering execution from planning through implementation, launch, and continuous improvement.
• Guide technical direction for scalable backend services, frontend apps, event-driven systems, and AI-native platform capabilities.
• Build and develop a high-performing engineering team with a culture of ownership and excellence.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and other teams to translate business problems into roadmaps and technical solutions.
• Drive measurable business outcomes using experimentation and customer insights to prioritize high-impact opportunities.
