Job summary

Numeral, a fast-growing AI-native tax platform, is seeking a Software Engineer for its Growth Engineering team in New York City. You will build customer-facing features, integrations, and internal tools from idea to production, measuring impact and guiding product decisions.

You will collaborate with Product, Sales, Marketing to improve onboarding, activation, and renewals, owning projects end-to-end and using data to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience shipping production software.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with backend technologies like Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud services (AWS preferred).
• Business acumen: connect technical decisions to customer outcomes.
• Metrics-focused mindset and using data to prioritise work.
• Ownership: take initiative and drive projects end-to-end.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with diverse teammates.
• Startup mentality: comfortable with ambiguity and rapid growth.

Responsibilities

• Build product features, backend services, and internal tools to help Numeral grow.
• Improve customer workflows across signup, onboarding, activation, and renewals.
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to solve business problems.
• Own engineering projects end-to-end from scoping through deployment and iteration.
• Instrument workflows, define success metrics, and measure business impact.
• Run experiments and use data plus feedback to guide improvements.
• Write reliable, maintainable code balancing speed and quality.
