Job summary

Family Dollar in Columbus, MS (Store) is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and maintain a safe, well-presented store environment.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a high-energy team setting and lead store associates when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and loss prevention.
• Help supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable store environment.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
