Job summary

Family Dollar in Columbus, Mississippi is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run day-to-day store operations and deliver exceptional customer service. You will assist with merchandise movement, training Store Associates, and maintaining clean, well-stocked sales floors.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, strong communication, and teamwork. You will follow corporate directives, manage opening/closing procedures, and help ensure loss prevention and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred and able to explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to shop floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Follow corporate directives and maintain store records and cash handling.
• Maintain promotional displays and assist in inventory control.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, and loss prevention.
• Ensure clean, well-stocked sales floor and secure store assets.
• Train and develop Store Associates and maintain a positive environment.
• Ensure safety, adherence to policies, and professional interactions with customers and staff.
