Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Compliance & Controls Manager to serve as a trusted first-line partner for the Growth organization. You will review marketing campaigns, customer communications, and partner materials to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws before launch, embedding with the business to shape customer experiences and product initiatives.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience reviewing marketing, advertising, or customer-facing content for compliance in a highly regulated industry.
Experience applying consumer protection regulations including UDAAP and one or more of the following: Regulation B, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, or Fair Lending requirements.
Experience managing high-volume compliance reviews while meeting deadlines and supporting multiple initiatives.
Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Legal, or Compliance stakeholders to support launches.

Responsibilities

Review marketing campaigns, customer communications, partner materials, and product launches to ensure compliance before launch.
Partner with Marketing, Product, Legal, and Compliance to provide practical risk-based guidance.
Apply regulatory frameworks to evaluate marketing claims, customer journeys, and product experiences.
Develop scalable review processes, governance, and checklists to support a growing business.
Leverage internal tooling and Generative AI solutions to improve review efficiency while maintaining human judgment.
