Job summary

The Learning Lamp in Johnstown is seeking a Group Supervisor to oversee our child care program at the Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center location. This role focuses on safety, daily care, and supporting our dedicated staff.

Open 6 AM to 6 PM, with full-time 40 hours per week; part-time options exist. The position offers competitive pay starting at $14 per hour, with benefits including health, vision, life, disability, retirement, and childcare discounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field.
• OR Bachelor's degree with 30 credit hours in related field and 1 year experience with children.
• OR Associate's degree with 30 credit hours in related field and 3 years experience with children.
• Clearances and trainings required: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, Mandated Reporter Training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a secure environment.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other basic care routines.
• Foster independence and encourage self-help skills appropriate to age.
• Follow daily schedule and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Support classroom staff with games, arts and crafts, learning activities, and other developmental experiences.
• Maintain positive communication with parents, children, and staff.
• Encourage positive behavior through patience, redirection, and reinforcement.
• Follow health and safety procedures and administer basic first aid when necessary.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and observations as needed.
• Support positive relationships with families through professional communication.
