Job summary

The Community Music Center of Boston seeks a motivated, student-centered group strings and general music instructor. You will provide instruction to elementary-age students at our community partner sites, focusing on classroom-based strings and music education.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching in classroom settings, values cultural inclusion, and aligns with our curricular pillars: Musical Artistry, Social-Emotional Development, Cultural Inclusion, and Student Pathways.

Qualifications

  • Must have Bachelor's degree in music performance/education or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of teaching in classroom group settings (public school preferred).
  • Strong time management and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse student needs and provide feedback.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as values.

Responsibilities

  • Teach strings and general music to elementary students at community sites.
  • Develop instructional materials and lesson plans aligned with curricular guidelines.
  • Prepare students for performances and events.
  • Maintain attendance in registration software accurately.
  • Communicate regularly with site contacts to support progress.
  • Attend department meetings and participate in recitals and concerts.
