Job summary

Community Music Center of Boston seeks a motivated group strings and general music instructor to provide instruction to elementary-age students at community partner sites. In-person, part-time hourly role with paid professional development opportunities and paid administrative time.

The ideal candidate will teach strings and general music in classroom settings, with a focus on inclusive, culturally responsive teaching and pathways aligned with our curricular pillars.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor's degree in music performance/education with knowledge in string pedagogy or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2-3 years teaching in classroom group settings (public school preferred).
• Strong time management and classroom management skills.
• Ability to adapt to diverse student populations and provide constructive feedback.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as pedagogical values.

Responsibilities

• Teach students according to curricular guidelines.
• Develop instructional materials and lesson plans.
• Prepare students for performance events and opportunities.
• Maintain open communication with site contacts to support educational progress.
• Attend department meetings and participate in events and recitals.
